Beginning/Intermediate Wheel Throwing

This is a casual, introductory wheel-throwing class for beginners or those with limited experience. Intermediate and Advanced classes require this as a prerequisite.

You will be provided expert instruction to learn the formative techniques to create cylinders that you can turn into mugs, bowls, cups and small vases. This is achieved through various techniques including centering, opening, and pulling. We will also cover the basics of trimming and glazing your piece(s) for the final firing. Pieces are ready for pickup after 2 weeks from when they are completed.

Clay & glazing is included in the tuition. No outside clay is permitted. Communal tools are provided or you may bring your own tools if desired. Studio expectations include cleanup of potter’s wheel, bucket and tools at the end of each class. Sign all work or it will be recycled.

Pokémon Figure Sculpting (Age 8 to Adults)

Put down the cards and forget the video games, come “catch” your very OWN favorite Pokémon as you gain basic handbuilding and sculpting techniques! This is a great option for families and groups of friends who also love Pokémon or learn to sculpt in 3D other fun animals like Hello Kitty, Bluey, bunnies, dogs, dinos and more!

Participants will form their creature from scratch (approx 3″-5″ tall) with guided instruction and hands-on assistance if needed, however students are expected to do most of the work themselves. Once fired to bisque stage, you will return to glaze it yourself, ready in about 2 weeks.

Tuition is all-inclusive. If this class does not fill to our minimum, we will reschedule or refund the tuition.

Bring photos of whichever Pokemon you hope to sculpt or use your phone as reference during the process.

Recommended beginner Pokémon for this session include:

Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander, Pikachu, Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Mew, Psyduck, Poliwag, Slowpoke, Eevee, Dratini, Gloom, Fuecoco, Smolive, & more! (Simple, round-shaped Pokémon are ideal for this beginner session). However, if you are up for a greater challenge, you may attempt a more complex creature of your choice. Bring photos of whichever Pokemon you hope to sculpt or use your phone as reference during the process.
